Friday Pie-Day: Four-Fruit Pie

I love hot fruit pies, and here is another delicious recipe we got from Taste of Home to use for our monthly pie this year. It was quite simple to make, and the results were scrumptious!

The four fruits in this pie are…

100 Day Streak

I haven’t had much time for blogging lately after my pre-scheduled posts all posted themselves while we were out of town, but I have been faithfully keeping up with writing my 750 words every day!

When I wrote about it way back in January, I thought it sounded like a fun idea. I grew to enjoy it, but I didn’t know how long it would last. I had signed up for the monthly challenge, which I am sad to say I did not complete that month (February) – I completely forgot about it one day, and I looked at the clock and it was already midnight. Since then I have set my phone alarm to go off every evening at 11:03 to remind me to write if I haven’t already. It seems to be working – all the other monthly challenges I have since signed up for, I have been successful at completing!

Friday Pie-Day: Cherry-Berry Streusel Pie

So here follows a tale of a pie that didn’t quite turn out like the picture promised. However, it was due mostly to our lack of direction-reading, so I am looking forward to trying this pie again! (This was our monthly pie from last year, so it may be time to make again soon!)

Monday Meals: Minestrone Soup

This is a “soup”-er healthy meal that tastes great and isn’t too difficult to make! The hardest part is really just getting all the vegetables chopped at the beginning.

Monday Meals: Apple Bread {Breakfast for Dinner}

Every once in awhile, we have breakfast for dinner. It is a happy occasion, and there is much rejoicing. In our household, breakfast for dinner is usually a much more elaborate affair than breakfast at breakfast-time. We have eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, fruit, and… oh yes, APPLE WALNUT BREAD!!!

I am not going to go into detail of how to make most of the meal, since everyone has different preferences, but the bread is something to behold. It is pungent and aromatic, along with being exceptionally flavorful and mouth-watering.

Alphabet Book A-E

Finally the alphabet book is here! Or at least the beginning of it. The toddlers have been working on this all year, but that’s because it is not the main focus of our days. This could easily be done in a week.

So first, the reasoning: no, I’m not drilling little one- and two-year-olds on their letters. No, we’re not doing a “letter of the week” or “letter days.” Although that might work in preschool, toddlers are just not going to get that. Instead, we are introducing letters to the little ones and letting them play with them so that letters become something they associate with fun.
