Monday Meals: Easter Lunch

Instead of a normal recipe for this week’s Monday Meals, I opted to share our Easter lunch menu with you. We came up with Bible verses to go along with all the dishes.

Slow-Cooker Turkey

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I have longed to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling.” – Matthew 23:37

Resurrection Rolls

Like our Easter story cookies, these resurrection rolls are turning into a tradition for Easter lunch! All you need are some of those pre-made crescent rolls and jumbo marshmallows!

Easter Story Cookies

These cookies have become a tradition for our family, and I hope they will be for yours too! I don’t know where this recipe originated from, but what a wonderful opportunity this presents to further teach the truth of Easter!

Begin this recipe on SATURDAY, the night before Easter.

1 cup whole pecans
1 tsp. vinegar

Make Your Own Resurrection Eggs

If you’ve never heard of Resurrection Eggs, they are definitely worth investing in. Inside each Easter egg is an object for kids to handle that symbolizes a part of the Easter story. Our class used a simple devotional book to go along with it and opened a few every day.

At the end of the week, we made our own for the students to take home and share with their families!

4 Easter Crafts for Preschoolers

It’s hard to believe I’ve already spent 3 Easters as a preschool teacher. Easter is one of my favorite holidays, and I look forward to incorporating it into the school year. Of course the kids are excited about Easter egg hunts and the gifts they’ll receive in their baskets, but it’s also a special time when we have an opportunity to share the salvation message with youngsters. Here are 4 of my favorite Easter crafts to make with preschoolers.

Preparing for Easter: Week 2

This Week's Hymns:
Wednesday: Ye Humble Souls that Seek the Lord

Thursday: In the Cross of Christ I Glory
Friday: It Is Finished! Man of Sorrows
Saturday: And Can It Be?
Sunday: Awake, My Heart, with Gladness
Monday: One Day
Tuesday: Hallelujah! Christ Is Risen

Welcome back to Easter heart preparation! Before sharing the daily hymns for this week (thanks to NetHymnal), here are some fun facts about the origins of Easter eggs and Easter bunnies. I am grateful to Ace Collins, whose book Stories Behind the Traditions & Songs of Easter I enjoyed and gleaned this information from.

Easter Heart Preparation: Week 1

This Week's Hymns:

Monday: Rock of Ages

Believe it or not, I grew up having no idea what “Lent” was. It wasn’t until I attended a Presbyterian church in college, and they started talking in February about getting ready for Easter, that I realized the importance of preparing my heart for the most important event in the Christian calendar: the commemoration of Jesus’ death and resurrection. I was fascinated to read The Stories Behind the Traditions & Songs of Easter, by Ace Collins… let me share some of the things I learned about Lent:
