Friday Pie-Day: Peppermint Snow Pie

Have you ever wanted to indulge in some peppermint Oreo bark, but in a pie form? Well, look no further; this is the recipe for you!

I made a few mistakes while I was making it, so I will share them with you so you won’t mess up like I did. (I think it still turned out great though!)

Friday Pie-Day: Lemon Pecan Pie

Hang on to your oven mitts – here’s a fresh twist on an old Thanksgiving classic! (See our traditional pecan pie recipe here!) Warning: a week after we made this, my pie-loving sister complained about some store-bought pecan pie she was served. She was spoiled by the awesomeness of this pie, and now she can never go back!

Another warning: this isn’t one of those smooth, creamy pies with all the pecans nicely sprinkled on top. This is a nutty blend of goodness packed with a punch of lemon!

Friday Pie-Day: Peach-Pear Pie

Here in Florida, we are still on the brink of autumn with traces of summer. This pie is a wonderful bridge between the two.

Friday Pie-Day: Caramel Apple Walnut Pie

After the 45 different pies we've made over the last 4 years, you would think we had covered all possibilities. But you would be wrong. After all our apple creations, this was in a league of its own.

Maybe it was the homemade caramel…

Or maybe it was the toasted walnuts. (We baked them for 5 minutes in the oven to bring out their flavor before using them with the pie ingredients.)

Friday Pie-Day: Plum Pie

Had you ever heard of a plum pie before? Neither had I. But this was definitely a favorite! The spices mingled with this perfectly-ripe fruit to create a delicacy like no other!

We agreed this would be a lovely pie at Christmastime, but plums are soon going to be out of season, so we had to take advantage of these fresh ones now! It was a nice way to usher in autumn.

Friday Pie-Day: Stars & Stripes Pie

Although this is one of the simplest pies we have made, it looked the most elaborate! We made it for the 4th of July this year – instead of a flag cake, we had a flag pie!

This is one of those pies that people think you worked forever on, and it really was whipped up in a few minutes. The filling was effortless to “make,” and it was fun and easy to decorate too!

Friday Pie-Day: Mango Pineapple Pie

This was one of the more unique pies we have made for our “pie of the month” tradition this year. It was tropical, very flavorful, and rather easy to make. (I need to start rating them by level of difficulty… this was probably 3 or 4 out of 10.)

Friday Pie-Day: Four-Fruit Pie

I love hot fruit pies, and here is another delicious recipe we got from Taste of Home to use for our monthly pie this year. It was quite simple to make, and the results were scrumptious!

The four fruits in this pie are…

Friday Pie-Day: Black Forest Freezer Pie

I had never made black forest anything before, but when I saw this recipe in my pie book from Taste of Home, it looked intriguing, so… I made it! (Pie of the month this year!) Not only was it simple to make, it turned out beautifully and tasted wonderful!

Friday Pie-Day: Loquat Pie

We have a loquat tree in our backyard. Some years it doesn’t do much, but this year the fruit on it was abundant! So much so that we decided to make a pie. (Our family has a thing for pies.)

Now loquats are tiny, tasty little fruits, also known as Japanese plums, and they have several seeds in the middle. The recipe I found called for 4 cups of loquats, but I doubled that, wanting to fill the whole pie dish. Needless to say, even if you do have easy access to loquats, this recipe is not for the faint of heart.

Friday Pie-Day: Raspberry Pie

This February’s pie of the month was an interesting but tasty combination that reminded us of summer!

Not too many ingredients were needed…

Friday Pie-Day: Peanut Butter Banana Nutella Pie

Just read the title and let your mouth water. Peanut butter. Banana. Nutella. Pie. It’s like all of our favorite things rolled up into one bundle of awesomeness! I came across this recipe through Pinterest, and I’m so glad we added it as this year’s January pie of the month. The original recipe was from Andrea Meyers: making life delicious and held significant personal meaning for her and a friend. Please check out her blog to get the full story (and she has much better photos)!

We made 2 pies, so there are more ingredients pictured here than what the recipe calls for. Lots of good stuff here, but in no way is it conducive to any New Year’s resolutions for weight loss!
