Instead of a normal recipe for this week’s Monday Meals, I
opted to share our Easter lunch menu with you. We came up with Bible verses to
go along with all the dishes.
Slow-Cooker Turkey
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I have
longed to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under
her wings, but you were unwilling.” – Matthew 23:37
Christian (not Jewish) Ham
“I am the Good
Shepherd; the Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. – John 10:11
“Then a shoot will
spring from the stem of Jesse, and a branch from His roots will bear fruit.” –
Isaiah 11:11
Green Bean Casserole
“And after twisting
together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right
hand; and they knelt down and mocked Him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’” –
Matthew 27:29
Asparagus
“But one of the soldiers
pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.” –
John 19:34
Mashed Sweet Potatoes
“We esteemed Him
stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. He was pierced through for our
transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening of our
well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging, we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:4-5
“You have grief now,
but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take
your joy away from you.” – John 16:22
Jello Jigglers
“The thief comes to
kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” –
John 10:10
“He is not here, for He
has risen, just as He said.” – Matthew 28:6
“Though your sins are
as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson,
they will be like wool.” – Isaiah 1:18
Happy Easter! He is risen!
